Proposals for a New 30,437 Sq. Ft. Recreational Building in Markham
Over the years, Markham has undergone a tremendous transformation. What was once empty parcels of land is now home to many condominiums, retail spaces, entertainment facilities, and several employment opportunities. After all, the head offices of Under Armour, Aviva, Jonas, Honeywell and Yamaha are all situated in Markham. Whether you’re an investor or a resident in Markham, you will have everything you could possibly need at your convenience.
The area continues to demonstrate accelerated growth and great promise. An application by Neamsby Investments Inc. has been submitted for a two-storey recreational and athletic building, mainly acting as a badminton facility, at 1375 Denison Street. The building is proposed to be located south of Denison Street and east of Birchmount Road. The applicant, Neamsby Investments Inc., is registered on Tarion under the Umbrella Group of Remington Homes. Remington Homes is a division of The Remington Group and specializes in developing the Markham area. Remington Homes has truly transformed Markham neighbourhoods into urban communities by building condos, homes & towns, retail and office spaces.
The site is approximately 1.27 acres in size and is currently vacant. To the north, east, and west of the site are industrial/manufacturing uses, further east is a newly approved table tennis facility, and to the south is residential uses.
The building will be 30,437 Sq. Ft. and will have a café, reception/pro shop, change rooms, commercial space, and studio space on the main level. The second floor will be mainly for badminton use, incorporating ten badminton courts with high ceilings. Additionally, a total of 78 parking spaces will be available at grade.
Given proposals go ahead, and the building is approved, this will promote economic development in the Markham area. Transforming this empty parcel of land into a badminton facility will draw attention to this area and generate revenue, through the retail and café space, that will further strengthen the economy of Markham. The offices on the ground floor will open up new employment opportunities, attracting promising employees from all around the area.
